Content Repurposing – 5 Tips to Take Your Content from Good to Great

Content repurposingOne of the best ways to keep your customers engaged and coming back to your company, again and again, is through repurposing content. But what exactly does that mean? And how can you use it to its full potential? In this article, we’ll be covering everything from why you should repurpose content to how to effectively go about doing it. So read on, and learn how you can take your digital content from good to great with digital content repurposing!

1) Evaluate the Content

It’s important that you start with quality content. It could be an audio clip, video file, blog post (500+ words), or any long-form content. Take a look at that content and if it isn’t already, break it into sections by topic. You’re looking for pieces of information that can be presented on their own, separate from the original piece. Here is where you want to be strategic.

Look for snippets of information that would work in another context. Maybe a quote, statistic, fun fact, or even a statement that you’d like to expand on. Effective content repurposing is adding to and freshening up pieces of content to present in new places.

2) Choose a Format

Though people often use content repurposing and content marketing interchangeably, there are slight differences between these two buzzword-y terms. A content marketer creates a piece of content that’s meant to drive some sort of goal or action—like downloads, app installs, or subscriptions—while a true content repurposer takes existing pieces of content and remakes them into something new.

Content repurposing can be as simple as adding your own voiceover to an infographic you found online; it can also take on a more complex form like turning old articles into ebooks or podcast episodes. In short: If you’re taking something you’ve already created and recreating it in another medium (or multiple other mediums), you’re repurposing content.

3) Know your Audience

Look for ways to better serve your audience. Would they receive your statistics better in an infographic? Or maybe they would like you to expand on your thoughts in a podcast episode. You could use an old blog post that performed well as an outline.

If you are thinking about posting your new content on social media, try using Canva to jazz it up first. their free tools should work just fine for your initial efforts.

4) Add Value with Visuals

I love a good chart, how about you? A quote card, pie chart, or simple picture can make all the difference on whether your super important text gets read or not. Sometimes we as humans are superficial and shy away from things that aren’t “pretty” enough.

Take your time and test different ways of presenting things. be sure to run some A/B tests on ads to help determine what route you should take in the future. your audience may very well prefer something different than you assumed.

5) Give it Away

Now all you need to do is get your new fresh content out there to the world. be sure to add some backlinks to your original content in there so that you increase your traffic. As long as you are adding value, you are sure to see success!
